The PASSERELLE Diploma (DU) – STUDENTS IN EXILE at the Sorbonne University Paris Nord 13

If you are an asylum seeker or refugee and wish to continue your studies in Paris, the University of Paris 13 offers you an opportunity through its DU Passerelle – Students in Exile program, which began in 2017.

This program is entitled “DU Passerelle,” an accreditation issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. It thus gives its students the right to apply for CROUS grants either for housing assistance and/or financial aid.

Who is it for?

  • Migrant students who wish to start or resume higher education in France
  • Students who have a small base in French (level A1)
  • Students who have, at a minimum, a high school diploma, equivalent to the French Baccalauréat.

When?

  • From early October to mid-May
  • 4 half-days (afternoon) of French lessons per week After or before the lessons: sports activities, culture, library
  • Personal work outside of university courses

Why?

  • To reach level A2 at the end of December and level B1 at the end of May 2021.
  • Preparing to enter higher education.
  • To pass the DELF in May at our university.

What is the program?

  • 192h of French classes per semester (15h/week)
  • a 30-hour independent course on the hybrid’action online platform
  • Workshops at the University Library and the VOICE service (orientation)
  • physical education and sports activities
  • activities related to the cultural service

Caution: In the second semester, it is proposed to students (as far as possible) to follow (in parallel with the FLE course) courses as a free auditor in the course to which they wish to apply after the DU.

How to apply?

Create your account on E-candidat. Then, in the tab “Offre de formation” (“Course offer”) select “Service Espace Langues” then “DU Passerelle Étudiants en exil”. Submit your supporting documents, then click on “Submit my application”/“Transmettre ma candidature”.
