PARLEMENT DE RUE – A different kind of welcome for migrants is possible – July 1 at the Hotel de Ville, Paris
The government is adopting a utilitarian, repressive and discriminatory migration policy that flouts the rights of exiles. This policy is particularly illustrated by the endless and ubiquitous sequence of events surrounding the new Asylum and Immigration bill. We, the collectives of people concerned and support associations, collectively reject this policy. We denounce and want to make visible the discrepancy between speeches and measures that run counter to the real issues and needs of migrants. Another approach to migration policies is possible, and more than ever necessary!
On July 1, 2023, we’ll be mobilizing at the Hôtel de Ville, in Paris, to organize a Street Parliament of exiled people, to give voice to their experiences and demands.
The Parliament will take the form of a committee hearing staged in the public space, using theater, humor, music and song.
The Parliament will be an opportunity to reclaim the public debate, which has been monopolized by extreme right-wing rhetoric, on the basis of what the people concerned have to say; to demonstrate, on the basis of the demands put forward by collectives and associations, that other migration policies can, and must, be put in place.
