The New Sorbonne announces its DU Passerelle diploma (DUP)

The New Sorbonne University opened the doors for exiled students with its DU Passerelle diploma.

The DU Passerelle is a university diploma that welcomes students in exile with a baccalauréat equivalent, wishing to start or resume their studies.

The course aims to acquire linguistic, cultural, and methodological skills related to level B2 of the European Framework of Reference to integrate students into university education.

What happens afterward?

Continuation of studies

At the end of his course, the student who has reached level B2 and has been assiduous can integrate a New Sorbonne course.

Students benefit from a complete exemption from registration fees.

Admission

Target audience :

Students in exile (refugees, asylum seekers, holders of subsidiary protection, etc.)

Level of French required :

Level B1 of the CEFRL.

General organization of studies

4 half-days of 4 hours of classes per week (afternoon), i.e., 16 hours per week (384 hours over the year)

Courses are intensive and require that students be available to attend. It is also mandatory to attend all courses offered.

UE 1 Listening comprehension

– listening comprehension of authentic audio and video documents

UE 2 Reading comprehension

– comprehension of informative and argumentative texts

– literature

UE 3 Oral production

– phonetics

– theater workshop

– academic oral production and university methodology

UE 4 Written production

– creative writing workshop

Cultural activities organized with the association Etudiants Invités Sorbonne Nouvelle and the Cultural Service of the university.

The students registered for the diploma will also have access to the university’s different services: tutoring, sports (SUAPS), orientation service, success service…

A sponsorship system will also be organized throughout the year by student tutors and volunteers, and exiled students will be accompanied in their orientation process starting in January.

In the second semester, students will be offered the opportunity to follow, in parallel with the FLE course, courses as an auditor in the course they wish to apply for after the DU (within the limit of available places).

Application procedure

Opening of the call for applications: from 03 September to 13 September inclusive

The application is made in 3 steps:

Step n°1: fill in the online form (link here)

Step 2: Send the application form by email to: du-passerelle@sorbonne-nouvelle.fr. The application file must be sent to us in a single Pdf document and must include the following supporting documents:

  • your CV in French
  • your identity document (a receipt of asylum application, identity card, residence card, or others)
    your diploma of graduation
  • the official translation of your diploma in French or English optional: a certificate of your level of French language B1 (TCF TEF DELF or other)
    ksup form to be filled in and supporting documents sent by mail

Step n°3: a French positioning test will be done online on September 14th.

Selected students will have to have an oral interview with a university teacher from September 21 to 25.

Final answers: Monday, September 28th
