The Academy for Participation of Refugees

Since its creation, the Interministerial Delegation for the Reception and Integration of Refugees (Diair) has considered refugees’ participation a central issue.

It seems essential to hear refugees’ voices to design and implement public policies that respond to individuals’ and territories’ needs.

Thus, the Diair has joined forces with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) and the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri) to implement the Academy for Participation of Refugees.

The Academy: 2 years to speak out

The Academy will bring together about ten people who are or have been refugees, taking into account the criteria of diversity. During the first year, this group will meet and exchange once a month with experts on various themes: public speaking, integration institutions, the geopolitics of migration, etc.

In the end, the Academy members will have the opportunity to integrate partner organizations’ decision-making bodies (boards of directors, project selection juries, etc.).

An Academy by and for refugees

The Academy evolves thanks to the group’s feedback. Thus, many issues will be debated during the first year: a selection of the next members, program of courses, etc.
