Confinement: devices to support students

During this period of reconfinement, student aid and supports were put in place. Find the food distribution sites but also the psychological support and the legal offices.

As in the spring, Parisian students have to adapt to a new period of confinement. Loss of student jobs, distance learning in small apartments, risk of social isolation, and the student population’s situation is becoming more precarious.

Several measures (food distribution, psychological support, etc.) have been put in place by the City of Paris and its partners to support them.

Crous services

The Crous de Paris’s central services no longer welcome the public on site until further notice, but student support continues. The Crous website provides information on catering and take-away sales, psychological assistance offered by associations, and the processing of scholarship applications.

Food aid

During the confinement period, food distributions for the students continue without any change of location or schedule. The City of Paris and several solidarity associations offer free food aid for all students. The Crous de Paris also offers a list of cafeterias that remain open.

The Restos du Coeur de Paris food aid center welcomes students on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The Linkee Paris association and the Secours Populaire de Paris also offer food aid to students.
The Restos du Coeur center

This center makes it possible to compose a food package with the products offered (milk, preserves, pasta, rice, desserts, etc…) and very soon fresh products according to arrival (fruits, vegetables, dairy products) a goal of a balanced diet.

Who can benefit from this aid?

Food aid is offered free of charge to students who have accommodation in Paris and meet the Restos du Coeur de Paris’s income ceiling criteria. Access to the Restos du Coeur de Paris distribution center requires registration, which takes place on-site during an interview with a Restos’ volunteer. This moment of exchange also makes it possible to discuss possible needs for support beyond food. Once registered, you can immediately access food aid.

As a beneficiary, all you have to do is tick the certificate of derogatory travel as a reason for travel and tick the box :

“Travel to make purchases of supplies necessary for the professional activity / basic necessities in establishments whose activities remain authorized. »

Important: to register, the Restos du Coeur de Paris ask you to bring the documents corresponding to your situation:

identity card
proof of accommodation in Paris: rent receipt, accommodation certificate, student residence, etc.
documents on income and expenses corresponding to your situation. For income: scholarship, CAF, payslip, unemployment benefits, family assistance; for expenses: rent receipt, housing charges (water, electricity, utilities), tuition fees, bank loan fees.
Places, times, and dates

This center is located on the premises of the CROUS de Paris at 8 rue Francis-de-Croisset (18th arrondissement) – Metro Porte de Clignancourt. It is open for students on Tuesdays from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Food aid from Secours populaire

Secours populaire has two student branches in Paris. By appointment, depending on your needs, you can benefit from free food aid.

Secours populaire’s assistance is available to all students regardless of their status (dung beetles or not). To access it, you must make an appointment in one of the student branches. A volunteer will receive you. Depending on your situation and your needs, he will give you access to one or more of these schemes.

How to make an appointment?
Bayet Branch – 6, Albert-Bayet Street (13th)
The offices are open on Tuesdays from 12 to 4 pm, and Fridays from 11 am to 2 pm.
To make an appointment:

– by phone, contact possible only on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 5 pm, Wednesday from 9:30 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm, and Friday from 11 am to 2 pm.

The Jussieu – Sorbonne University, Espace Vie Etudiante, 4 place Jussieu (5e).
The office is open on Thursdays from 11 am to 2 pm.
No appointment is necessary to be received during this service. It is only necessary to present yourself with your student card and proof of resources.
Please note: this service is currently accessible only to students from the Jussieu campus.

Psychological assistance

The main players in student life have joined forces to offer Parisian students a permanent psychological support service. Thanks to the Mutuelle des Etudiants (LMDE), the CROUS, the City of Paris and the Association pour la Prévention, l’Accueil, le Soutien et l’Orientation (APASO), these free psychological counselling services are available to all students.
